Canon Point: End of first season
Gender & Sex: Female/Female
Age: 17 (The end of the series it the summer of the next year and Hajime is in the next grade up.) aged up to 18
Birthdate/Sign: Nov. 24th/Saggitarius - Canon
Tattoo: Shoulder blade, 4" diameter
Suitability: Hajime is the type of person that takes everything for what it is and accepts it. Where an average person would be put off or upset by everything that happens in CROWDS, from the initial meeting with JJ and the experience of the NOTE removal to fighting aliens and facing the end of the world, Hajime accepts everything without complaint and moves forward without crying and without backing down.
Her honest way of thinking, in which she can justify everything that happens logically, would make Zodion an easy place to get used to. In her mind, fighting aliens would just be replaced by sex and the need for her to fulfill these duties to help people would be welcomed with a nod and an 'Okay'.
Hajime would set forth to not only fulfill the required worship needs, but go out of her way to help others and even go so far as to talk to and try and befriend the gods to better understand them.
As far as living alone goes, she's well-equipped for it. She willingly moves into her designated apartment with Sugane without blinking an eye. She can cook for herself (very well, at that), clean, do DIY and work with power tools, and function entirely on her own.
Power: Like any of the Gatchaman, she can transform and control a suit of armor that is faster, stronger and more agile than the average human (though she seems to not actually be 'in' the suit, instead existing in a plain INSIDE the suit where she still receives physical damage as her suit does, just like the others.) The suit also allows her to use a variety of weapons, all of which are themed off of scissors and stationary/collage work.
Along with this is the power of her NOTE, which the official website describes as:
Hajime has the "Designer NOTE" power — the ability to design anything imaginable and make it a reality.
Though it is not known to what extent this ability can go, it is possible that it explains how she was able to manipulate MESS during her first fight. It also will likely be used as an explanation for Berg Katze now being a part of her in the upcoming season.
What this means for her in Zodion: She will be able to transform with her general stat boosts capped down some. Her weapons, seeing as they are extensions of her soul like her suit and her NOTE, will not be accessible to her until her powers are upgraded. So, she will essentially only be swift as a coursing river (on roller blades), forceful as a great typhoon, and strong as a raging fire, but a little more metallic.
Her NOTE ability will be nulled, as they hold too much potential to be rule-breaking. This also means that Berg Katze will not be sealed in her body in Zodion.
Personality: Everyone who meets Hajime thinks of her as strange, air-headed, crazy or stupid from the start. She is so much her own person that it is hard for other people to fathom her from first glance and her complete confidence in who she is and her own way of thinking that she doesn't make any attempts to change who she is to impress someone or change their way of viewing her.
All she asks is that they call her Hajime, for goodness sakes!
Hajime, in reality, is incredibly insightful, to the point where she baffles people. She listens to everything the people around her say. She takes in every bit of information she can in a situation and analyzes it, forming her own opinion about every situation, every person and every enemy the G-team meets based on only information, not the influence of others and their biases. As O.D. says, she does not look at things like labels and stereotypes and instead takes everything for what it is. This is how she becomes the 'sun of the G-team' and earns not only the respect, but also the friendship of everyone on the team.
This aspect of her personality not only helps her to empathize and understand the motivations and feelings of everyone around her, but it makes her an incredible problem solver. She is the one who is able to develop plans to solve the many problems the G-team faces. She takes the initiative to speak with Katze to find out more about them. She organizes a PR event at a daycare in order to warn the citizens of Tachikawa, contact Rui and attempt to get insight into Katze's riddle.
But even though she's a thinker and a problem solver, she has the tendency to be rash. Everything she does, though, has purpose. She'll act without thinking, but at the same time, she won't do anything that is obviously careless unless she has a reason for it working out. Showing her face to Rui for the first time, for example, had a purpose for her. To her, it was absolutely necessary that they speak face-to-face, probably so Rui could identify her later on.
One thing that Hajime is known for is her blunt honesty. She's kind and cares about people and works to cheer people up, but she basically never lies and will tell someone exactly how she feels, even if it isn't what they want to hear. When fighting the Neo Hundred, she tells Rui very simply that they were outnumbered, and afterward, when Rui looks for reassurance from her, asking what she thinks will happen next after their struggle, she simply replies 'I have no idea!'. One of the reasons Berg Katze communicates with her as much as they do is due to her honesty, which they say is something they like about her. Just as she sees the world for what it is, she offers the world what she is, simply and honestly, with no attempts at masking her thoughts and feelings.
There are times when Hajime is notably stubborn and can butt heads with people who don't put in any effort to think outside of their own world. This mainly ends up manifesting during the first few episodes where she and Sugane get to know each other. That he only bothers to follow his own sense of justice bothers her to the nth degree. She believes he can only see straight ahead of him and doesn't bother to look at anything else, and it makes him miss important information and misjudge things and people. Having to work directly with a person who just doesn't have the same perception abilities as her frustrates her and ends in a lot of arguments between them in the beginning. She doesn't like when a person's way of thinking doesn't have enough room to accept all the wonderfully different things about people there are. She also gets temperamental when she's being bossed around. Being a free-thinker, she really doesn't follow orders well if she feels she should be doing something different. Indecision also makes her annoyed.
Hajime is a person who expresses herself with more than just words. She gestures, she sings constantly when she's not talking to anyone, she twirls and dances and she invades the space of other people. She is constantly on the move, rarely quiet, and loves working with her hands. She is the artistic type, able to work with almost anything craft-related to make something unique and beautiful. She can cook (though her food may look inedible, it's delicious) and she can do DIY/work with power tools (she is the sole decorator for the entire apartment by the end of the season). Her creative nature is, of course, why she has the Designer NOTE. She loves to extend her abilities to express to other people, doing things like designing clothes on GALAX and organizing a Collage club for people to use collage work to decorate day planners and small notebooks to send as well wishes to the survivors of the recent disaster. She encourages everyone to try their hand at being creative, saying that it doesn't matter how it turns out, because everyone is different.

[ With a bright, song-lit smile on her face, Hajime presents herself to her device with both hands near her face, index and middle fingers stuck out and parted like two V's.
Is she voguing? Why no, with the flexing of her fingers, clearly she is mimicking scissors! Her arms and hands move the entire time she speaks, like she's practicing sentai poses she remembers from her childhood. It looks like she's propped her device up on something to record herself. ]
Hello! I'm Hajime Ichinose! Gatcha! [ She salutes with her fist balled and her arm lifted in front of her chest. ] I just arrived here today and I'm living in the Fire district! Nice to meet you!
[ Her arms stick straight out, cup against each other, and wave a little in the air. She's giving herself a handshake in the stead of anyone she's greeting. ]
I'm looking for the other Gatchaman, though they probably aren't here, because I haven't seen any messages in my NOTE! Oh, wait, here, let me show you!
[ She reaches into her ducky backpack quickly and fishes out a little white notebook. ]
You'll know who they are if you see them with one of these! But, see, I wrote in there and there's no reply. But, if they're out there, Hajime is here and is fine!
[ Her introduction is out of the way. Her call to her comrades (and perhaps an underlying warning for anyone who may be a potential enemy of the Gatchaman crew) is out of the way and now she can get to the serious stuff. ]
I have a few questions! [ Arm up. ] One, are there any stationary or craft stores where I can work? I can also cook!
[ Arm up again. ] Two, will someone show me where to get furniture and get craft supplies? I'll be needing them soon!
[ Arm up one last time. ] Three! Is there somewhere safe where I can learn how to have sex? I want to get my first experience out of the way so I know how to help people but not get taken advantage of by a pervert!
That's all for now. Thank you!
Bye-bye!
"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry:
Hajime woke up like a pixie in a plant, slowly lifting like a dew-weighed flower and stretching her slim arms above her head with a yawn.
She was a morning person, despite her heavy way of rising up, and she knew right away that she was not dreaming. The feeling of air on her skin was too obvious and her eyes were clearly open. Her body held weight and she could smell a living world wafting by under her nose. She cracked her back, making a funny sound in her throat at the bit of soreness left in her bones by the stone slab under her butt, and looked around with more intent of drinking in every inch of the room around her.
Hajime Ichinose was not in her world anymore, and though she was awestruck for a silent, wide-eyed moment, she soon captured her sudden new reality and smiled. Somehow, she was in a new world, in her uniform with her backpack still strapped in place, and sitting in a dark, cool room alone.
"Prettyyy..." she sighed dreamily, taking in the ceiling and all the art surrounding her. This definitely looked like a spiritual place, maybe an alter. She'd seen them in movies and in books. If she was alive, it meant that she was likely at no risk here. Of course, she couldn't know for sure, so she wasn't about to believe that completely.
She started to hum, mumbling a little song 'Where? Where? Where am I? I don't know where I am. Where? Where...?'.
Hopping to her feet, she felt a sharp bite in her shoulder and winced, hissing in a breath, wondering if she might have bruised herself on the bed. Her feet scuttle her over to the mirror and she spent a long few minutes contorting herself with her bed shirt pulled up her back to see if there was a mark. How big it was. What color it might be...
But instead, she found a glow coming from her body, teasing her in the corner of her eye. She puffed her cheeks, spinning around in a circle a few times like a dog chasing its tail before she jerked her head enough to see half a bow, planted in purple on her shoulder.
Her eyes twinkled, curling both of her arms to her back to try and touch it and test its authenticity.
"Hoooooh, I look like a gang member with something this big," she mused, half-laughing in genuine cheer. But how did it get there? And where was she? And why? And could she add to it and make it a little better...?
For Hajime, it was right to business, asking questions inside and seeking answers on the outside.
She had already seen the communication device and the letter on the pedestal. There's little that can escape Hajime's discerning gaze when she was dead set on finding out all she could. With her pain problem (and glowing problem) solved, she moved fluidly right to the pedestal to pick up the letter and the device.
"Hello? I'm taking this okay? I'm going to take this with me..."
A simple statement of courtesy while she ran her finger under the seal of the letter and opened it, reading it as carefully as possible. She catalogs every point of interest into her mind, highlighting 'worship' and 'Twelve' in a bright pink mental pen before taking off her backpack and putting the letter securely into its duck-faced compartment. With a sigh and a new melody on her lips, she swings the duck pack over her shoulder and puts it right back on, skipping past the pedestal with one more mindful look at the room.
"Twelve, twelve, one two three four, tell me more, five six seven eight, play it straight, nine ten eleven twelve! Who is a Twelve? What is a Twelve? Twelve, twelve..."
